Circle of life

On going project:
Circle is a slum neighborhood in Accra- Ghana that I’ve been visiting since April 2023. My first intention was to capture women’s portraits and see how I could connect them to each others…

I quickly noticed that their relationship with beauty and tattoos was a way to cope with reality but also a way to communicate their hopes and dreams. The hardship of daily life brought them this « extra » humanity that we all lack.

This photography project seeks to delve deep into the world of beauty and tattoo symbolism within a community. Through these photographs, I uncover a rich tapestry of meaning and identity etched into the skin of the residents. It’s a testimony of what these women aspire for and how they cope with the tough daily life in the camp.
